AWANA Kids Clubs
Join us on Wednesday evenings September through May!
The acronym AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and stems from 2 Timothy 2:15:
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (NKJV)
AWANA is a children’s Bible club with a main emphasis on learning the Word of God. It was organized in 1950 at a Chicago area church by a man named Art Rorheim. AWANA has now grown into an international organization.
AWANA clubs meet every Wednesday night September through May between 6:45-8:15PM.
During this time, the clubbers learn and recite Biblical concepts and verses to their leader. As sections are passed, emblems and awards are presented to be worn on the clubber’s sash as a display of their achievements.
Large Group Time
This is the club segment features singing, testimonies and a short Bible message.
This is the time for clubbers to enjoy fun and games on the unique AWANA Game Square. Boys and girls are encouraged to wear blue jeans or shorts (for comfort and modesty) and tennis shoes (for safety).
In many circles, “puggle” is a common term for a baby platypus. In AWANA circles, Puggles is an enriching program for your pre-Cubbies kids (2-year-olds) that presents simple, basic biblical concepts: 1) God made everything, 2) God saw that everything was good, 3) God is love, and 4) Give God thanks. These four precepts are spread across 32 teaching cards for lesson time. These large, colorful cards illustrate a simple lesson for toddlers to understand. Each week features a theme around one of the precepts and related core verses: Genesis 1:1, John 1:3, Isaiah 42:5, Genesis 1:10, 1 John 4:15 and Psalm 105:1.
Cubbies is a two-year preschool program, designed for three and four year-old preschoolers. Cubbie Bear encourages children as they progress in their handbooks. These handbooks provide Bible memorization curriculum and stimulating activities especially for preschoolers. The Appleseed Handbook and HoneyComb Handbook teach basic Bible truths along with popular preschool concepts of color, shapes, numbers and letters.
Designed for kindergarteners through second-graders, Sparks includes a fun firefly character named Sparky. The three Sparks handbooks and ranks are Hang Glider, Wing Runner, and Sky Stormer. Sparky firefly encourages and motivates children through handbook achievements. Handbooks provide Bible memorization curriculum and other Bible-centered activities.
Boys and Girls in grades 3 through 5 will embark on “The Ultimate Adventure” and “The Ultimate Challenge” which is the Christian’s relationship with Jesus Christ. We want the c1ubbers to know and understand the “Truth” of God’s Word and “Train” them to serve Him in their daily lives. T&T handbooks focus on different truths of God’s word and learn the answers to some really important questions like:
– Who is God?
– Who is the Lord Jesus Christ?
– Why did God give us the Bible?
– How does God want me to live my life?
